10 Steps to Problem Solving

Step 1.  Define and Understand the Problem:

Begin by clearly defining the problem you need to solve. Take the time to understand the root causes, underlying issues, and potential implications. Gather relevant information, analyze data, and seek different perspectives to understand the problem comprehensively.

Step 2.  Break Down the Problem:

Break down the problem into smaller, more manageable components. The mistake leaders can make is trying to solve a multi-part problem at once, becoming overwhelmed and paralyzed to act. In addition to breaking, it down into smaller chunks, it is essential to identify the key elements, factors, and variables involved. This step helps organize your thoughts and enables you to tackle the problem systematically and structured.

Step 3. Generate Alternative Solutions:

Engage in brainstorming and generate a range of potential solutions, using techniques such as mind mapping, reverse brainstorming, or round robin to creativity and diverse thinking ( Brainstorming techniques).
